Sightseeing, Touring and Attractions

Lily Bay State Park
The largest lake in New England, Moosehead Lake fills a glacier-scoured basin 117-square miles in area. Its waters run cool and deep, harboring togue, brook trout, and landlocked salmon. Opened in 1961, this 925-acre park welcomes visitors to experience a variety of outdoor activities including swimming, boating, camping and watching wildlife.

Baxter State Park
Baxter State Park can be simply described as over 200,000 acres of mountains, lakes streams and forest, all given in trust by one man, Percival Baxter, to the People of the State of Maine.

Little Moose Public Reserved Land
Located just west of Greenville in Piscataquis County, the Little Moose Management Unit covers more than 15,000 acres in Moosehead Junction and Big Moose townships. Although the forested land is flat to gently rolling in the southeastern quarter, the unit also includes most of the Little Moose Mountain Range with its steep slopes, rocky streams, and remote ponds. Visitors enjoy hiking, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and camping in this remote setting.

Chamberlain Lake Public Reserved Land
Chamberlain Lake is a group of parcels abutting the large lakes that form the south end of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Canoeists from the waterway follow the hiking trails to the tops of two low mountains and enjoy fine views of the lakes and forests.
