Moosehead Lake Region Chamber of Commerce
Nestled among scenic mountain ranges, Moosehead Lake in Maine is the largest lake east of the Mississippi contained within one state. Moosehead Lake's island studded waters stretch as far as the eye can see, and are surrounded by vast forested wilderness.

Wikipedia: Greenville
The town is centered around the lower end of Moosehead Lake, the largest body of fresh water in the state. Greenville is the historic gateway to the north country and a center for outdoor recreation in the area. Little Squaw Public Reserved Land and Lily Bay State Park are located nearby, in neighboring Moosehead Junction Township and Beaver Cove, respectively.

Moosehead Lake Sightseeing, Touring and Attractions

Lily Bay State Park
The largest lake in New England, Moosehead Lake fills a glacier-scoured basin 117-square miles in area. Its waters run cool and deep, harboring togue, brook trout, and landlocked salmon. Opened in 1961, this 925-acre park welcomes visitors to experience a variety of outdoor activities including swimming, boating, camping and watching wildlife.

Baxter State Park
Baxter State Park can be simply described as over 200,000 acres of mountains, lakes streams and forest, all given in trust by one man, Percival Baxter, to the People of the State of Maine.

Little Moose Public Reserved Land
Located just west of Greenville in Piscataquis County, the Little Moose Management Unit covers more than 15,000 acres in Moosehead Junction and Big Moose townships. Although the forested land is flat to gently rolling in the southeastern quarter, the unit also includes most of the Little Moose Mountain Range with its steep slopes, rocky streams, and remote ponds. Visitors enjoy hiking, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and camping in this remote setting.

Chamberlain Lake Public Reserved Land
Chamberlain Lake is a group of parcels abutting the large lakes that form the south end of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Canoeists from the waterway follow the hiking trails to the tops of two low mountains and enjoy fine views of the lakes and forests.

Moosehead Marine Museum
The Moosehead Marine Museum invites you to experience history. Step aboard the Katahdin for a leisurely cruise to enjoy the natural beauty and history of Moosehead Lake.

Katahdin Iron Works State Hostiroc Park
Today, the skeletons of a blast furnace and charcoal kiln stand silent, lone remnants of the Katahdin Iron Works. In the past, these structures pulsed with activity as part of Maine's only nineteenth century iron works operation.

Forest Heritage Days
Since 1991, when the Maine Forest Service observed its 100th anniversary protecting Maine forests, a group of Moosehead Lake region individuals has organized Forest Heritage Days, dedicated from the start to providing the public a singular opportunity to learn about the working forests of Maine -the history, the present practices, and what’s in store for the future.

Annual International Seaplane Fly-In
