Plumas County is a county located in the Sierra Nevada of the U.S. state of California. The county gets its name from the Spanish words for the Feather River (Río de las Plumas), which flows through the county.

You'll see bridges and covered railroad tunnels and PG&E powerhouses. There are numerous trailheads along the route and many creeks spill into the Feather River, some with excellent trout fishing. Highway 89, another portion of this Scenic Byway, goes through Blairsden/Graeagle.
The concept of an active "living museum" is evidenced by the dozens of different exhibits, events, meetings and functions held at the Plumas County Museum. Permanent exhibits include an outstanding collection of baskets woven by the area's original Mountain Maidu Indians. The Industrial History Wing features Railroads of Plumas County, Gold Mining on the Feather River, and TIMBER!, an exhibit about the lumber industry of the county.
The Run-A-Locomotive program allows you and up to three others to operate a real locomotive on the museum grounds with your own private instructor!
The Museum is a well preserved 1850's log cabin, believed to be the third such cabin built by Jim Beckwourth as a trading post and "hotel" in Sierra Valley. The cabin constructed with "V" notched logs of the type used in the area where Jim grew up.

Whitehawk Ranch Golf Club
Whitehawk Ranch Golf Club is the crown jewel of the Ranch. Carved from the natural terrain of the Mohawk Valley, emerald green fairways are framed with native grasses and a profusion of wildflowers. Seven streams -- meandering through tall pines, cedars, firs, and quaking aspens -- create ponds and waterfalls that contribute to the challenge and beauty of the Dick Bailey-designed course.

The 18-hole course at the Nakoma Golf Resort at Gold Mountain, California (formerly the Dragon, now renovated and under new management) features 7,071 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72.
Lake Davis
Lake Davis is located seven miles north of Portola, California. This lake was created in 1967 for recreational opportunities. The Lake Davis recreation Area offers a wide variety of summer outdoor experiences including: camping, picnicking, fishing, hunting, boating, mountain biking, swimming and wildlife viewing.
