Telluride Gets A Dumping -- Another 8 inches!

Another storm blew through Telluride over the weekend dropping 8 inches of powder on top of the 14 inches we received mid-week.

"This snow is a great pre-season indicator, and with forecasts calling for more snow tonight and over the weekend, we are gearing up for a great season," said Jeff Proteau, vice president of mountain operations. "The resort has also upgraded snowmaking and grooming capacities this year, so this snow is helping to build on a great base for opening."

SKI Magazine is just out with its annual "Top 50 Resort Guide," which names Deer Valley, Utah, as the No. 1 ski resort in North America. Colorado had six resorts in the overall top 10 list, more than any other state. Vail was No. 2, after Deer Valley. Whistler Blackcomb, in British Columbia, Canada, was third on the list, followed by Aspen and Snowmass, both in Colorado; Park City, Utah; Breckenridge, Beaver Creek and Steamboat, Colo., and in the No. 10 spot, Sun Valley Idaho. Hard Rock theme park to open next year in Myrtle Beach

Hard Rock Park, which calls itself the world's first rock 'n' roll theme park, is under construction in Myrtle Beach, and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2008. A centerpiece of the park will be "Led Zeppelin-The Ride," a 155-foot-high looping, steel roller coaster with a high-fidelity on-board audio system that will blast the classic band's hit "Whole Lotta Love," creating what the park's promoters are calling "an unprecedented sensory experience."

The park will be 140 acres with more than 40 attractions. In addition to coasters, there will be shows, children's play areas, restaurants, cafes and retail stores, and a live music amphitheater. The project is the first theme park from the Hard Rock franchise, which also owns 125 cafes and more than a half-dozen hotels and casinos around the world.
